App to stream music from unraid

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is there some sort of app for iphone and ipad, to play music from unraid server? Able to sort genre, year etc etc..

I probably need some addon for unraid.. But i want direct streaming to iphone or ipad...

Thx

The easiest for apple products is to use iTunes running on windows that pints to the unraid share as its data directory.

No itunes please. And no extra desktop either.

Just the unraid machine and ipad or iphone.. No extra pc or laptop..

You can use on unRAID:

* Plex Server

* Logitech Media Server (better i think)

and any DLNA/UPNP music player on your iPhone/iPad.

I use 2player music player on my Android phone.

You should check out subsonic, will do what you want and already has unraid support, been using it for almost a year now,, its great

Thx will look for it

tried subsonic. I prefer plex or logitech as stated before.

I dont like the fact that subsonic isnt dlna and needs specific app to run on clients.

Well squeezebox app is not an option. Sb server on unraid works but when i try to play it with ipad app it says theres no squeezeboxplayer connected...

Skank, do you want to use the ipad itself to actually play the music? I mean over the ipad's speaker or using a headphone? I'm using the Squeezepad app with Logitech Squeezeserver, and if i understand correctly, you should be able to do that with that app... it's an extra €3,99 in-app purchase...

"stream music to your iPad: now your iPad becomes a small player on its own, and is able to stream your local music or internet radio stations. You’ll find this feature as an in app purchase in the players menu"

If you're prepared to give Squeezebox Server another try, then I suggest taking a look at iPeng for iPad.  It's by far the most mature Squeezebox client. However, it's not free and if I read your requirement correctly, you want to use the iPad itself as the music output in which case local playback is an in-app purchase, which may be a deal breaker for you.

I can see where you're coming from, but the nice thing about subsonic rather than dlna, is I can stream over 3g or other wifi since my subsonic server is accessible over the web. I'm not sure I could do that with UPnP or dlna

Yes i want to use the ipad built in speakers...

I already purchased ipeng, i know theres a built in app purchase that would work but im looking for a free option at the moment

I use Google Music

You can upload up to 20,000 songs for free. Available through every html5 capable browser (including ipad's)

you just need an internet connection and you're good to go
