September 16, 201213 yr Hi I'm at the stage where I'm ready to start the preclear process, but So far, in the main settings on the web, I see my HDDs, but I havent selected any from the drop down menu. Do I have to set (select each drive) in the drop down before preclearing? What about parity and cache drives?

Do I have to set (select each drive) in the drop down before preclearing? What about parity and cache drives? No... do not select ANY drive you with to preclear first. After the preclear has completed, and you are satisfied it is working properly, then you can assign it. Once ANY drive is assigned to the array the preclear script will NOT allow it to be cleared. This is to prevent you from accidentally clearing a drive containing your precious data. To preclear a drive it must be un-assigned, and not mounted (in use for another purpose) Joe L.
