September 19, 201213 yr Topic says it, got 9 drives, and want to preclear all of them. Can I do it all together? how many cycles per drive? I read the tutorial (http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Configuration_Tutorial#Preclear_Hard_Drives), but it doesn't give details on multiple drives. So how to? P/S. I'm so happy that I reached finally to this stage, took me 3-4 weeks to get to this stage, starting with buying parts, then putting them together, and the rest....etc.
September 19, 201213 yr I think you could do all 9 drives at once, but I would only do 2-3 at a time, personally. If they are brand new drives I would run at least 2 passes on each of them. I know its tempting to just add them all and go, but the preclear really is a key step in pointing out any drive issues before you trust them with your data.

Thanks buxton. exactly, tempting to just start using them, but i trust all of you, and i'll preclear them before using them. when you say 2-3 at a time, you mean 2-3 drives, right? If i decide to do 3 drives at the same time, i can run 2 cycles per drive? so total of 6 preclear cycles i guess. correct me if i'm wrong.

Ideally you use screen so that you can start and keep 3 preclear sessions running simultaneously, one for each drive. If you use a terminal windows or three in this case, an d he window closes due to a network failure, etc. the preclear will stop. Screen will allow you to close the terminal and have preclear continue operating... Hope that makes sense. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
September 19, 201213 yr I highly recommend screen as well, it can save you huge amounts of time if something happens during a preclear.
