My Unraid is an old unit that Tom built and I bought early 2008 with a couple of Promise 4-port PCI cards for expansion.  It has Celeron 1.8 MHz CPU on P5B-VM DO motherboard with 4G of RAM.  Would I benefit from replacing the Promise cards with an AOC-SASLP-MV8? 

 

I just upgraded from 4.7 to RC8a and all seems to be OK but parity checks still run mostly at about 15MB/s up to the 750GB threshold...same as on 4.7.  I have 2TB parity drive with 2x1TB and 11x750GB data drives.  Parity checks take about a day to complete.

Yes, parity check speed should increase substantially using a AOC-SASLP-MV8.
