Differences between Pro and Plus?

Featured Replies

Can someone tell me or point me to location where it shows differences between UnRAID Plus and Pro.

I just about a week ago I build unRaid server using Basic version and I’m impressed after loosing some data in WHS.

But back to the subject I’m ready to upgrade the basic version and I was almost ready to go with plus version since the only difference suppose to be number of attached drives. However skimming thru forum I notice that cash drive is only supported in Pro. One other inconsistent information is amount of supported RAM, I wish I new this 2 weeks ago when I purchase my hardware. Are there any other  features that over time got implemented in one version but not other?

Tom if you read this please update the website with the new information this could be little discouraging for new users like me.

Otherwise great software and support group. Thanks.

In a nutshell.

Pro supports more drives (up to 15) and it supports the use of a Cache drive for writes.

Data on the cache drive is scheduled to be moved to the array at a user selected time.

This allows writes to not incur the performance penalty of the raid/parity update (for some this is not much of an issue).

Both Plus and PRO support User Level Security where as BASIC does not.

It uses the unix "cron" scheduler.  It can be set to just about any schedule you like, including those you mentioned.

The "cache" drive and its schedule is described in the release notes here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1731.0
