I have way too many of these now. When will we start seeing some better prices on Hitachis? Likely when WD wants to liquidate the Hitachi brand from the market once and for all. I also wouldn't expect to see any new drives under the Hitachi banner. In case you didn't know, they bought Hitachi's drive business in March of 2011.
October 7, 201213 yr Decent price but the 1 year warranty absolutely kills the deal (IMO). That's the exact reason why I didn't buy it. I haven't had to buy a hard drive in a real long time since all my drives are WD Black series, which carry a 5 year warranty. I've had my original purchases of those replaced once already. I think it was like 8 drives. They are 2TB each. And the replacement drives carry a 5 year warranty also. I paid for a premium price, but I haven't had to spend any money on drives in a while. Pretty soon I'll use WD's drive upgrade program to get their 3TB models. They have special deals for loyal customer's.

October 7, 201213 yr Decent price but the 1 year warranty absolutely kills the deal (IMO). Has anyone ever use the extended warranty program offered by Newegg? It's cheaper to add a few more years to the 1 year warranty than to buy one of the much more expensive drives that already come with more years. Thoughts?
October 7, 201213 yr I don't see how anyone in their right mind would consider this a good deal for these reasons: -It's a Seagate -Only a 1 year warranty -2TB drives can be half this price

That's a great point. $10 for another year - can you go longer? This is worth looking into.
