October 6, 201213 yr did you create the datastore in it, or was it already a datastore disc you added? It was a 3TB disk I just got from UPS delivery. I added it to the P5Q-EM ESXi box. Created the datastore on it. Setup a VM but didn't install an OS. When I found out that I couldn't to passthrough I shutdown. Put in the unRAID USB flash drive rebooted and started a 3 cycle preclear on it in preparation for use on one of my ESXi servers. Specifically in a Windows VM as a recording drive for SageTV.
October 6, 201213 yr trying to retrofit ESXi onto existing hardware can be a real PITA. It is generally best to buy hardware known to work and go from there. look at http://www.vm-help.com//esx40i/esx40_whitebox_HCL.php and the links on that page to see if any of this an help. its a bit outdated but, still valid.
