Samba Wont Start

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My samba does not want to come online.

I tried upgrading from RC5 to RC8a to see if that would fix the issue but to no avail.

This is the output from the log

"Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS logger: Starting Samba:  /usr/sbin/nmbd -D

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS kernel: fat_get_cluster: 6 callbacks suppressed

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS kernel: FAT-fs (sda1): error, fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 262292)

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS last message repeated 9 times

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS logger:                  /usr/sbin/smbd -D

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS logger: Starting NFS server daemons:

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS logger:  /usr/sbin/exportfs -r

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS logger:  /usr/sbin/rpc.nfsd 8

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS logger:  /usr/sbin/rpc.mountd

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS mountd[5012]: Kernel does not have pseudo root support.

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS mountd[5012]: NFS v4 mounts will be disabled unless fsid=0

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS mountd[5012]: is specfied in /etc/exports file."

Let me know if there is anything more that you need.

Run check disk on the flash drive in a PC or Mac.

I would agree on that based on these log entries:

Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS kernel: fat_get_cluster: 6 callbacks suppressed
Sep 29 14:43:55 NAS kernel: FAT-fs (sda1): error, fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 262292)
