Help getting sabnzbd and sickbeard to work

Featured Replies

I need your help please. This has taken me the entire day and I am getting so frustrated it seems impossible.

So I have a cache drive, and installed sickbeard, and sabznbd via Influencer's plugin.

(I have never used any of these apps...)

So after installing them and having them run, I went to this page:

/mnt/cache/.custom/sickbeard/autoProcessTV

in order to configure them.

The issue is that once I get to categories config, I have no categories listed. And when I try to add one, and click on the drop down menu to select a script, nothing is shown, I have no scripts!

Influencer didn't provide any fursther instructions so I thought that the plugins is all I needed to install these 2 apps, but now I am stuck and don't know what do!

I can't seem to find a guide to take me from where I left off.

Here is what I wish to ultimately do.

SHOWS: Enter them in sickbeard and have them be downloaded, checked for parity, extracted, renamed to name.SxxExx.avi, and then moved to the appropriate show folder on the share.

I have TV shows set up on the share "Shows\nameofshow\season X\

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out with this as I am really stuck and here and frustrated.

You need to either move the files from the autoprocesstv folder to the scripts folder or point to that directory in the Sab config.

There will be no categories, you do have to set them up. Main thing is to make the tv category and in the Sickbeard config set up your naming scheme and point it to the user share you'd like, for example mine is /mnt/user/TV/.

Id go into more detail but I'm on my phone and its been a really long time since I've set them up so I'm going off of foggy memory. If you need further direction ill try to help

Just saw your other post. If you installed Sickbeard to the default location that is where the scripts folder will be. You need to move it to the Sab data directory scripts folder

Influencer, I don't know what scripts folder you are talking about. I am sorry to sound childish but I can't find a scripts folder anywhere. I just followed exactly the instructions you gave for your plugin, except no scripts are showing up for me.

Basically, when I create a catogory say "TV" I am not showing any scripts in the drop down box.

*EDIT* I don't have any scripts forlder and I don't have any scripts in the sickbeard folder either.

Myabe the plugins assume that I already had these apps installed? This was a fresh install that I followed your plugin directions. I can't find any scripts anywhere.

I dont have sabToSickBeard.py anywhere!

I basically don't have a scripts folder anywhere, really dont know what to do guys, help

Wow, this is the most confusing thing I ever did in my life. And I consider myself pretty computer savy.

I really hope someone could help me out here. I really am just stumped and don't know what do do out how to proceed.

It's really not that confusing, just your trying to figure out new apps on an unconventional install.

Let's go back to the basics. What is your install and data directory for both apps.

And the plugin does not assume the apps are installed, it does the installation for you.

I followed exactly what what you statedin your thread, word for word. Everything seemed to install except for the scripts?

sabnzbd:

Install directory :/usr/local/sabnzbd

Data directory: /mnt/cache/apps/sabnzbd

Run as user: nobody

sickbeard: same

-----

This is exactly the instructions that you gave me in your thread. That's all that I did

Influencer, thanks so much for helping. I promise if you help me get this set up you will have a donation coming your way as a thank you for your time. Really appreciate someone trying to help me. I spend pretty much the entire day today (12 hrs) setting up unraid, figuring out how to preclear, etc..

Look in /usr/local/sickbeard for the autoprocess folder.

You should move all if the files in that directory to /mnt/cache/apps/sabnzbd/scripts/

Also in case it wasn't mentioned in the instructions, make sure you set the apps share to cache only.

How do I navigate to this? Via windows explorer from my windows machine?

Or do I just navigate to the cache drive/apps/sickbeard?

The only folder that I could find like that is via cache/apps/sickbeard/

And I think that is because I nly typed that folder destination in the config for sabnzb from that guide. Otherwise I don't think that folder even exists... Either way, when I navigated to it it was empty. Here is a screen shot

*EDIT* I can't find the /usr/ directory anywhere. When I navigate to the flash drive it is called /root, anything else is /mnt, how would I navigate to /usr?

It doesn't seem to be anywhere

You have to access it from telnet. The /usr directory isn't shared via samba.

I still don't know the Linux commands commands. Do you mind telling me exactly what to type please to get to the folder and to move the files please? Thanks

Also any idea why I have to do all this? I thought the plugins are supposed to be simple and not need all this stuff.

Thanks so much again. I really hope I can get this working today without spending an entire day on it

Okay so I changed the install directory from /usr/local/sabnzbd to /mnt/cache/apps/sabnzbd as advised in the other thread, and I can finally see the different scripts appear in Sabnzbd! Hope this is okay influencer.

But I still don't know what to do next.

I created 2 categories TV and Movies, and for TV set it to sabtosickbeard.py for the the script

In SABnzbd go to the config and folders and set the post processing scripts to /mnt/cache/.custom/sickbeard/autoProcessTV

You also have to open /mnt/cache/.custom/sickbeard/autoProcessTV/autoProcessTV.cfg and enter your install info

God I remember going through all this myself when I first started to use Sab and Sick. It was VERY confusing since there were no real direct and straight forward explanations of how the post processing worked. No documentation stated that your watch folder should be the same as your category. Not one place stated that little fact. Drove me nuts and I think I may have had nightmares. :)

Now I have Sickbeard and Sab all running on a Windows super computer doing all the work, downloading, unrarring, checking, etc...then all at the end the final process is to move the final output files to the unraid server over the network. It has been a very efficient process. After a few days shows just appear like magic.

Weird though...

Complete setup of sabnzb, sickbeard and couchpotato took me no more then an hour and shows were pouring in.

No meed for copying any script folders or whatnot...

Only thing to do is make sure that the location where sab places the files is the same location as where couch and sick pickup the files to post-process.

First make that work (no need for categories).

If that is working sit back and relax and view the magic.

A bit later setup a category for tv and movies, otherwise couchpotato will move your tv shows into your movie directory.

The whole thing worked pretty much out of the box for me.
