Hard Drive Dissappeared

Featured Replies

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone had an idea of how i should tackle this problem...

I Installed serviio on my unraid 5.0 box and wound up having to delete my password files inorder to get back into the server. I restored the old files but that didnt help... All seemed well and serviio ran fine... until i realized my 6th 2TB drive was no longer in the pool! When i selected it it saw it as a new drive and wants to preclear it again. There is proabably 750GB of info on there right now so i cant allow that. Any suggestions?

Also has 5.0 been stable for everyone... i cant seem to get the permissions to work correctly (or at all) to make shares private... I am thinking it may be because i have updated since 4.5 or 4.6 and i need to do a clean install... any suggestions on how i can do this without having to rebuild and copy everything over from scratch?

Thanks again for any feedback.

You're not telling the whole story here. What did you do that caused disk6 to not be assigned to the array?

A disk doesn't just leave the array. A bad disk would get disabled and the contents virtually simulated. You would see a red "ball" beside the disk on the main unRAID page. The disk share and user share contents would still appear and be both accessible and writeable, but no data would be read or written to the actual hardware drive.

You can update or re-install all you want. The new version will recognize the drives containing valid unRAID data and bring them into the array with the data. Just don't click "start" if there is any info saying the disk will be cleared and don't press format if that option appears. And finally, don't assign a data drive as the parity because it will get messed up in a very bad way.

You likely have to assign the disk and initialize the array to put it back. The disk has file system problems if that doesn't work.
