Is the "NAS kernel: can't shrink filesystem on-line" something to worry about?

 

No, everything in that small syslog fragment is completely normal and expected.  I like to use the tail command with the --lines parameter to see more info, for example:

tail -f --lines=99 /var/log/syslog

 

Then you can use the Shift-PgUp key to see more info in the previous pages.
