Stuck adding new hard drive - help needed please

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am on 5.0-rc8a.

I precleared a new 2TB 204 Samsung hard drive using the AF method.

That finished an hour or so ago so then I stopped my array and then went and added the new hard drive as disk 8 and started it up again.

The problem is that it has been stuck like this for over 30 mins now with a spinning cursor.  It says:

"Spinning up all drives...clearing disk8*...

Start array...Mounting disks..."

I have attached a syslog to see if that helps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I seem to have fixed it.

For anyone else who encounters this problem I did the following.

Had a quick look at my syslog and saw that something to do with the plugin "Headphones" was the last thing shown.  I then searched on here and there seemed to be a couple of posts with people having a similar problem who were advised to do the following:

1) disable addons/plugins by renaming a directory.  In this case I changed the plugin directory to "plugin_old"

2) do a safe powerdown, I followed this post http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1905.msg13461#msg13461

3) power up

Mine now showed the drive in the menu and is allowing me now to format it.

Cheers
