Getting "Windows Cannot Access" error message. [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

I'm running version 4.7, have been for over a year now, and haven't had any problems until this past weekend.

Sometime shortly after Sunday afternoon I started getting the "Windows Cannot Access" error message from all my computers, and it seemed to occur shortly after a power outage.  I can see the server in the network browser in windows, can get to the UI page in Firefox and can Telnet into the server.  At first I thought it was a NIC card issue, so I changed the card but still have the problem.

I only have 3 drives in the machine, but the 3rd drive, which is intended to be a parity drive but has actually never been used.  Also, I don't have a cache drive.

I've attached a copy of the syslog.  I don't know what to really look for, but one part caught my eye, a repeated error message that reads:

"Oct  9 20:14:33 Tower kernel: FAT: Filesystem error (dev sdd1)

Oct  9 20:14:33 Tower kernel:    fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 270346)"

Could it be a corruption with the flash drive?  Something more serious?  I know I should be using a battery backup with the system, but since I've been in the middle of a move I haven't put one in place yet.  Thanks.

Put the flashdrive in a windows box and do a chkdsk on it ..

Thanks for the help.  Pulled the stick out, ran chkdsk, put the stick back in, booted up with no problems and is running fine.  :)
