Ok, this is the second server i build, but mostly forgotten everything.

 

I made an usb stick,and adjusted bios, now what?

 

Should i start preclearing both 3tb drives? Or isnt that necessary anymore?

 

i have to copy some stuff from my other server to this one, and i know copying is faster without parity, so should i assign one data drive, copy stuff then assign parity or just assign both drives and then copy?

 

Do i need to install unmenu?

You don't have to run the preclear. It was never necessary. It does provide a nice burn-in test for the drives though.

I personally would copy with parity and let it take the extra time.

The parity drive, it didnt need to format?

The data drive said it was unformatted, so i pressed format button, i thought it would take some hours (3tb) but i just refreshed the page and it says its already finished? Is this normal?

 

It now says paritysync is in progress and will be finished in 368 minutes

The speed is rather slow. About 5 to 10 times slower than what newer hardware should give.

I get very high read and write counts.. How does this come?

Is it normal that parity isnt being formatted?

What about formatting the data disk.. How come this is done so fast? Is it done correctly?

Formatting only takes minutes.

 

The parity has no file system so it doesn't need to be formatted.
