October 12, 201213 yr Just got my build in place and starying to move files over. Main plans are to use it only as a media server (movies/tv/music). As of right now I only have 1 data drive and 1 parity. Right now on my newtwork it shows //tower/disk1/media. I am confused to the disk seperation and how to make everything go under media, especially as I add another disk.
October 12, 201213 yr enable user-shares. Then you'll see //tower/media (and you'll be able to make the disk1 share hidden or disabled) When you add a second data disk it too can have a "media" directory and it contents will also visible under //tower/media (You'll still be able to see its individual contents at //tower/dis2/media until you disable or hide the disk share) With user-shares enabled all top level directories become shared directories on the lan. You will probably want to have a top level directory on your server for each of movies, tv, and music.
