Web Ui stop working, corrupted flash?

Featured Replies

I have been having a recurring issue with my Unraid setup for months now and it is frustrating when it happens.

Basically my tower/main web interface stops working and the only way to get it back is to try and close programs from putty/their UI, stop the raid from unmenu (which never has any issues) and reboot my server. I made at least one post about it before but I never got the problem resolved (here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21896.msg194252#msg194252 )

I thought it must be a bug with one of the release candidates but i very much doubt that now.

I read in another thread (here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=19560.0 ) that it may be a corrupted flash drive. Could this be the problem? should I backup the flash, shutdown Unraid and format it in my PC and then copy the files back?

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you!

when i try to restart emhttp i get the following error in the unmenu log

Oct 13 17:10:13 Tower emhttp: unRAID System Management Utility version 5.0-rc8a

Lots more details at my original post in the link above. Thanks

The latest releases of emhttp can not be restarted without a reboot. Run checkdisk on the flash on a PC or Mac.

Thanks very much for the feedback dgaschk.

What i did was close my plugins from their web ui, stop cache_dirs and stop the array through unmenu, after i do this i get locked out from everything such as putty, windows explorer unraid shares and unmenu etc so i just have to pull the plug at this stage. After that i removed the usb and put it into my windows machine and right-clicked -> properties -> tools -> error checking - check now and I ticked both boxes. After it completed it said that there were no errors found. I was a little unsettled by this as there is no other explanation as to why my tower/Main UI keeps crashing after what seems a random time. I wanted to be 100% sure it wasnt the flash so i backed up, did a long format, transferred the files back and did another checkdisk.

When i put the usb back in the server it was not booting correctly. I did the same thing again but this time I ran the make bootable script as admin. Again no luck. I disconnected everything from the server and took it into my main pc and connected it to the monitor and as it was booting I got a boot error message. This time I re-formatted, downloaded the unraid server from the website and installed as instructed. I overwrote the config folder with my own folder with the pro license etc.

Thankfully everything seems ok, its doing a parity check now but i am really worried this problem is going to rear its ugly head again. I only use a small handful of common plugins, a brand new sony micro vault usb as suggested on the website and I dont mess with any settings on unraid.
