Split level 0 still creates folder's on different disk....

Featured Replies

this has been happening recently, after the 4.3 update

my structure is as follows, i have a DVDs share, which is on 2 drives, disk3 and disk6, so its \\tower\disk(x)\DVDs\MovieName\ and it is set to read only (exception for my username, which has write access to the share).  The DVDs share also has a folder named "DvdCacheInfo" stored on it which is stored on disk6...so it's accessible by either \\tower\disk6\DVDs\DvdInfoCache or \\tower\DVDs\DvdInfoCache.

When i add a new movie, i add it to the disk directly, since i have the user share set to read only.

Now, I use Dvd Library Manager to manage the xml files for my dvd's so they show the correct information in Vista Media Center.  It lets you add movie cover images and an xml-id (which it stores in the root directory of the movie) and then stores the movie info xml file (title, actors, description, etc) in the DvdInfoCache folder.

I have DvdLibraryManager (and also vista media center) set to search \\tower\DVDs for all my movies, which it finds, and when adding xml data or coverart, it stores them to \\tower\DVDs\MovieName\.

Up until now, it always stored the coverart image and xml-id file on the disk that created it, for example, when using DvdLibraryManager and saving a cover art/xml to \\tower\DVDs\MovieName\Folder.jpg it stored it correctly under \\tower\disk3\MovieName\Folder.jpg...but recently it has been creating folders on other disks and storing the xml data and coverart on those disks even tho i have the split level set at 0.  I was just looking around and noticed a DVDs folder was created on disk7 and had some of my movie folder in there that only contained the xmldata and folderart.

Any reason for this??

Sorry for the long explanation, just wanted to be kinda clear :D

According to the release note for 4.3 final, the behaviour of split level 0 was changed...

You probably need to set it to 1 and argue with Tom why 0 was better when it meant 0, rather than 99999.

From the release notes of 4.3 final...

Changes from 4.3-beta6 to 4.3 (final)
-------------------------------------
Improvement: subtle change in 'split-level' value 0.  A value of 0 is now interpreted as "split permissable at all levels".

hum, thanks Joe....didn't catch the change he noted

so will 1 act exactly like 0 did previously?

No, it does not....

A discussion thread is here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2130.msg15701#msg15701

For you, a split level of 1 or 2 would work.

1 would keep all folders under DVD on the same drive, 2 would keep all files in MovieName folders on the same disk.

Original discussion of how split level works is here (before change of split level 0 behaviour)
