[SOLVED] Choppy playback on popcorn hour

Featured Replies

I recently went to RC3 and things seemed pretty decent.  I then began experiencing issue with NFS so I went to RC8a in hopes it would be better.  When it was not, I figured to just keep using smb shares.

On RC3 as known, the user security was not yet needed as specified so I never added users.  When I went to RC8a I got the no permission issue, so I added a new user.  Once added and configured in my PCH I was able to access the share.  However, now playback is awful.  Every few seconds the audio drops and the video skips a few frames.  This is the case now on 2 separate PCH devices.  Both have a hard wired connection and neither have ever had any issues in the past, before the upgrade.

Any ideas would be great because in the current state, my 3 Popcorn hour devices are useless, No NFS and now now SMB.

Which pocorns?

Network topology?

I'm using a wired Dune Base 3.0 and a wireless laptop and high bitrate mkvs or m2ts (remuxed bluray) play fine.

What hardware is inside the server?

a-110.  I have 2 and they were both doing it.  Not sure, but I think it may be resolved actually.  I also disabled NFS on all my shares as it was still on.  That was Friday, I then played some videos fine on my A-210 and yesterday an iso played fine again on the A-110, so I think I am good.

To answer your questions though, I am running hard wired, gigabit, which is actually 100MB with the popcorn hour players...the files that were failing were DVD iso files and one mkv of an HD TV show.  It was bizarre, but it looks to have corrected itself or with the help of disabling NFS on all the shares since it doesnt work anyway.

Seems everything cleared up once I turned off NFS which was not working anyway

I actually had to switch to NFS to get better play back. My Dune and Popcorn Hour are now both using NFS.
