Removing an empty disk

Featured Replies

Hi all, I am on RC8a, a new setup I put together with a couple of brand new green 2To and a few older 7200's. After a couple of months of running, one of the unused 7200's (completely empty) reported SMART problems and disabled it from the array. I took it out of the machine, but then it showed as missing. When I put the drive back it in hoping to remove it from my config first, it didn't seem to recognise it as the original one, certainly I could not find a way to remove it from the config.

In the wiki I can find info on replacing with another disk, but not how to take one out. I am worried about using the option of resetting my config. Can somebody point me in the right direction? Tx!
