photos missing.... huge lost and found file

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I have an unraid system, it has been working for 4 or more years now. Over that time I have lost many drives. Each time I replaced the drive and let it rebuild. I didn't THINK I lost any data. Recently we were looking through our photos and noticed several folders missing with photos in them.. we know they were there at one point but not now.

I found the lost+Found folder and in it is two files... one is 2.5 gigs and the other 4 megs. How do I look in there to see if my photos are there.. they have no extension.

any help is appriecieted.

I am running unraid 4.4 if that helps.

basically, you rename them to have an extension that might be correct and then attempt to open them.

A 2.5Gig file is likely to be a movie and not a picture.

You might want to run a reiserfsck --check on the /dev/mdX drive, just to make sure the file system is OK.

I had two disks go bad. I couldn't tell because the stupid dots are colored green or red, I am color blind so they look the same to me. Honestly couldn't they have spent an extra 4 minues of programming and made the dots a red X or a green dot.. to help the millions of colorblind people.

A reboot did not help but a full power cycle got back one drive... which made the data re-appear. I am now running in degraded mode and will have to replace the drive soon.

Right-click on the dot in question, and select "view image" and then check the file name in the URL.
