October 28, 201213 yr Back to what I was happy to get a 2TB drive for pre-flood... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005T3GRN2/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=the05e-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B005T3GRN2&adid=1M2481QK228GXYR5WNYY&
October 28, 201213 yr Author Yeah, that's a good point... I don't know about Segate, but I was just looking at the warranty on WD drives, it looks like the blacks are still 5 years, but that's $70 more than this drive, so probably not worth it for just the warranty. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004CSIG1G/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=the05e-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B004CSIG1G&adid=0XZJ4X7W8HW0194175MH& Another option would be a squaretrade warranty which is up to 4 years for $20. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008I64UF4/ref=as_li_ss_til?tag=the05e-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as4&creativeASIN=B008I64UF4&adid=0YGBSAW7GBTCHW4JRGYK& flips
October 28, 201213 yr The warranty situation is pretty disgusting. I have had to use the old warranties a few times and these shorter ones sure don't seem to show much faith in a product. Having to rely on 3rd party warranties for things that should be reliable and covered by the manufacturer just seems wrong.
