I went to install mail on a new server and after getting the c compiler installed via unmenu, I get the following problems installing mail.  Has something changed in the mail install?  I did it a few months ago successfully using this same process.

Download and Install Extra Software Packages

mail and ssmtp - Configure unRAID to be able to send e-mail notifications via the "mail" command. Installed, but version is different.

Current version='/usr/sbin/ssmtp:' expected '2.62' (MD5 of existing downloaded file NOT matched - download may be corrupted or download URL no longer valid.)

Description: This package installs both mailx and ssmtp, a subset of "sendmail" needed to send alerts from the unRAID server

To test the basic configuration of ssmtp, type the following command:

echo -e "Subject: a test\n\nThis is the email body." | ssmtp -d root

Try renaming the ssmtp file so it redownloads it, and change the package url to

http://ssmtp.sourcearchive.com/downloads/2.62-2.2ubuntu1/ssmtp_2.62.orig.tar.gz

since the debian package url doesn't seem to respond right now.

 

Dunno if it will solve it, but it's something to try.

In the flash packgages folder there is:

 

ssmtp_2.62.orig.tar.gz  (0 kb)

ssmtp_2.62.orig.tar.gz.manual_install  (3 kb)

ssmtp_2.62.tar.gz  (0 kb)

 

I renamed them all and a new :  ssmtp_2.62.orig.tar.gz  was downloaded but still (0 kb).

In the .conf file.

Funny there is no conf file for that package.  Neither was there one on my other unraid machine.

 

I copied the files from my other unraid machine and it still complained about the version, but it installed, and its working.
