November 5, 201213 yr I've been putting off upgrades on my unRAID server for quite a while (its running v4.5.4). I was previously planning to wait until v5 final, but who knows when that is going to be released. So, I'm tentatively planning to upgrade to the RC. The release notes have pretty good instructions for how to do the upgrade, but I'm confused about what I'll need to do with some of my plugins. Namely, there are three things I'm concerned about. First, I've been running unMenu on V4.5.4, and its been handy to have. I'd like to continue using it. Second, I did some stuff a couple years ago (I don't even remember what exactly) with a poweroff script so that when I hit the power button on my physical box it shuts down the array before powering off the server. Third, I'm running the UPS plugin that I installed via unMenu. If I install v5r-rc, will I lose those customizations? What do I need to do to get them running again?
November 5, 201213 yr You can install unMenu with V5.0. I have and it works just fine for me. I also have powerdown script and the UPS script installed. Not using email script so can't tell you about that one if you have that also. I just installed them like I did with 4.6.
November 5, 201213 yr Author Will unMenu the the powerdown and UPS scripts be uninstalled when I upgrade? I thought I made changes to files that aren't typically modified in an upgrade process- even the upgrade process to v5. For instance, the go script. Is it going to create problems if I install v5 over v4.7 without modifying my go script? It's been a long time... I really don't remember what I did to install those upgrades. I think the UPS script was easy- if my memory serves I just let unMenu install it and I didn't really change anything manually. I remember being horribly confused about what to do about the powerdown script. I posted something on the forum asking for help, and the responses I got back just made me more confused. Based on this thread, it looks like you can install the powerdown script from unMenu now. I'll probably just do that.

Based on this thread, it looks like you can install the powerdown script from unMenu now. I'll probably just do that. That is all I did. I started from scratch with a totally new install when I went with 5.0. I just copied the config files and flash key but set everything else up from scratch including the go file. I took the unMenu defaults for the scripts. The normal path to upgrade is to just replace the bzroot and bzimage files and restart. Then everything is like it was before as far as plugins. With 5.0 and it's newer plugins I thought a fresh install was called for. I know some of the unMenu plugins can actually cause problems when installed on 5.0 but they are the more advanced plugins. I don't believe any of the unMenu plugins that deal with unRAID health cause any problems.
