I have planned to tried out the unRiad on an old PC, with four new  WD 3TB drives.  If this works out fine,  I plan to buy a quieter and bigger pc case to expand the storage.

 

I followed the instructions on "Configuration Tutorial" (http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?action=post;board=4.0) , installed unRaid 4.7,  performed the preclear on 4 drives.    See attached system spec, plus preclear_results.

 

But after "Add Drives to the Array(Step5)", the "Start" button is grayed out.

 

Please help!

Did you check the adjacent "I'm sure" checkbox to enable it?

 

Also,  4.7 does not support 3TB disks.  You need to use 5.0-rc8a.

 

And... your version of the preclear script is WAY out of date.  It cannot handle 3TB drives properly.  You want version 1.13 (latest as of this post) sorry... looked closer... I see you are using the right version.

(1) There was no  "I'm sure" checkbox.

(2) If 4.7 doesn't support 3TB disks,  which version is both capable and stable ?  5.x?

If switch to 5.0-rc8a,  do I simply install onto a new USB drive, and where is the instruction for upgrading the system?

You must use the USB drive to which your license key is assigned. You don't seem to be upgrading but rather setting up a new system.
