November 9, 201213 yr Hello Everyone, As the title suggests One of my disks red balled and now I need to know how to properly add it back to the array. And get my array back up and running properly. I am using unRAID OS 5.0 RC 8. Attached is the smart report for my drive. I of course researched this prior to posting and found this information: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Troubleshooting#What_do_I_do_if_I_get_a_red_ball_next_to_a_hard_disk.3F However I would like to ensure that it is the best course of action. Any suggestions are thoroughly appreciated. Thank you smartdisk10.txt
November 11, 201213 yr Author Hello dgaschk, I tried rebuilding the drive it said it would take 23 hours, I checked on it later and it failed while rebuilding. Please see the attached picture where it shows that the problem drive is (sdl). However when I check the syslog, it tells me I am having problems with drive (sdn) and does not mention drive (sdl). The sys log just repeats these errors over and over again. Nov 11 04:49:39 UNRAID kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev sdn, sector 6291704 (Errors) Nov 11 04:49:39 UNRAID kernel: sd 1:0:4:0: [sdn] Unhandled error code (Errors) Nov 11 04:49:39 UNRAID kernel: sd 1:0:4:0: [sdn] Result: hostbyte=0x04 driverbyte=0x00 (System) Nov 11 04:49:39 UNRAID kernel: sd 1:0:4:0: [sdn] CDB: cdb[0]=0x28: 28 00 00 60 00 f8 00 00 08 00 (Drive related) Thank you for assisting me with this, I really appreciate it.
November 13, 201213 yr Author Just an update: I attempted to run a smart report on the drive, however I would get the error: A mandatory SMART command failed: exiting. To continue, add one or more '-T permissive' options Then I attempted to navigate to the drive, via samba share, and it showed as completely empty. I powered down the server, re-seated the drive into the bay and powered back up. This time I was able to run a smart report. And I have attached it, however the drive looks to be healthy. I am attempting to re-build parity from my failed SDL drive again, and will update tomorrow regarding the outcome. Thank You sdn_cache_drive.txt
November 29, 201213 yr Author I meant to reply back to this earlier. The drive rebuilt properly and I am back up and running. Thanks!
