Trying to replaced failed drive

Recommended Posts

2 nights ago, during a parity check unraid detected one of my 2TB drives as failing, So I went out, and purchased a new one, Precleared it and it said it is good.

but when rebuilding the parity, it failed. Attaching the syslog.

Any reason a drive that passes preclear would fail in such a manner? I know the original drive failed since it failed the long scan of Western digital Diag software.

Google "bathtub curve"

Early demise is very common.  It is why some recommend 2 or 3 preclear cycles.

On the other hand, it might be the SATA or power cable to the new drive came loose because you did not have it secure.  Power down and re-seat them.  You might get lucky.
