to start a parity check type

mdcmd check NOCORRECT

or

mdcmd check CORRECT

(for a correcting, or non-correcting check)

 

For results there is no file to "cat" although you might try /proc/mdcmd

 

To get the results type: 

mdcmd status

Lots of stuff will print, you just need a few of the fields to see how far along it has gotten.
