November 12, 201213 yr Use the telnet-tail method to collect a syslog during a crash. See here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=9880.0
November 12, 201213 yr Author ok ill try that next time but will it work if i cant even connect to my sever?
November 12, 201213 yr ok ill try that next time but will it work if i cant even connect to my sever? No. You must start the tail process before the server crashes, then when it does crash, you will see the last entries to the syslog before the crash happens.
November 12, 201213 yr Author ok thanks..so i take it nothing really showed up on this log because i had to restart it?
November 12, 201213 yr ok thanks..so i take it nothing really showed up on this log because i had to restart it? Syslogs are stored in RAM, so when you restart, the previous events are gone, and it starts logging fresh.
December 9, 201213 yr Author Past couple days my array has stopped twice again...after the first time i believe i did the telnet-tail correctly however i may have not done properly...heres the log from the telnet session..just like before it immediatly went into a parity check after i restarted it the first time. i have not restarted it the 2nd time i will wait for some info..thank you syslog.txt
December 21, 201213 yr Author array disconnected again...any ideas? did that telnet session show anything? thanks!
December 21, 201213 yr Author i manually reboot it after it disconnects from my network. and when it boots back up the array is typically stopped and when i start the array it usually goes into a parity check. past few parity checks have come back with 0 errors
December 21, 201213 yr Is the system completly dead? If you attach a screen and keyboard are you able to do anything before you restart it?
December 21, 201213 yr Author i do have a screen attached at all times. This time i did not get anything on the screen the past times i believe that i did get info on the screen but im not 100% positive
December 28, 201213 yr Author Problem happened again. my unraid server is no longer connected to my network. i have confirmed that nothing appears on the monitor that is attached to it. Infact i do not even have power to my keyboard i unplugged and plugged keyboard back in but nothing happens. i havent done it yet but i bet if i restart the server i bet that the array will be stopped and once i start it it will go in to a parity check...any ideas? think its just a network issue im dealing with? but then why would the array be taken offline as well...hmmm i dont know ha..thanks for taking the time to read this!
December 28, 201213 yr Author No I have not. i guess i can try that i currently have a CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 CMPSU-430CX 430W. I think I want to stick with CORSAIR unless someone has any suggestions? i just need a lot of sata cables... i feel like sata cables straight from the psu is better than a cable adapter..or does it not matter really?
