Lots of experience with WD Reds?

Featured Replies

Anyone here have some time running WD Reds?  I've read some forums elsewhere and posts here.

Its time to add a drive.  Are the WD Reds worth the $30 premium over the greens?  Thinking about starting the swap to Reds now, but curious.

I've read mixed results with the WD drives lately, reading many cases of people RMA'ing them yet I'm not reading the same about Seagate drives lately. This leaves me with an uneasy feeling about how good WD drives really are. Keep a lookout for the Toshiba drives. They basically are the Hitachi models, since the Hitatchi 3.5" HDD business was bought by Toshiba. I just installed 3 x 3T drives and they were a good price and are working well for me. I got them for $130 each, which was as cheap as I've seen any new internal 3T drive for sale.
