Featured Replies

I am new to unraid.

5.0-rc8a

basic version

3x3TB WDC WD30EZRX (the one that was recently added using pre-clear scripts and worked fine for couple of months  is now unassigned)

what to do next?

added syslog

Do NOT start the array or the data on that disk will be erased.

You MUST set a new disk configuration, then start the array.  If it mentions data being cleared, it WILL.

thanks for your prompt response.

I am sorry for stupid questions  ,

1. how do i set "new disk configuration"?

do you mean simply assign &start? or "maintencne" mode

2. this disk was ok including parity for while, so  i don't understand "if it mentions data being cleared" . I would expect my data should be restored from parity.

unRAID thinks it is a new disk. It will treat it as a new disk and clear it before re-formatting it.  It almost looks like it wants to re-construct it with the contents as calculated from parity and the other disks.

On the 5.0 series

on

Utils->New Config

you can set a new initial configuration.  That is the ONLY way to get that disk back in without unRAID clearing it now.

For it to be thought of as a new disk, the array had to have been re-started with it missing/disconnected/un-responding, and then re-started again with it again responding.  Power down ans make sure the cables are all seated properly (on both ends)

Then, set a new disk configuration, then and only then is it OK to start the array.

unfortunately, it didn't work.

because it is quite new disk in the array and i can restore it from other source. i decided to clear &format it from the web (w/o using the pre clear scripts) and with array stopped.

unfortunately, the process doesn't complete with the disk2 in the array.  the disk1 and array is ok when started, also parity was updated after one of the attempts. well i already abandon the disk2 revive.

it shows "unformatted"... what to do?
