Spindown (routine) keeps happening

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I installed a new disk the other day by the suggested way on the unraid wiki- just stopping the raid and adding the disk and letting it do the format etc.

Anyways since then i am getting some strange disk spins. I notice that the new disk and the parity drive seem to spin up together a few times everyday -the same time from day to day. Just wondering can someone tell me whether this is normal or not. I have a cache drive set to move shares every week which it has been doing perfectly since I set it up, it also keeps files transferred to the shares until then.

Maybe this is normal? Im not sure but i would rather sort it out while im home at the weekend if its something that is keeping my disks spun up alot. here is a sample of my syslog. This only seemed to happen this week really.

edit: there was no one moving media to the server anytime too. There is a wdlivetv box that ma have been used during the week but i have it the shares set to read only and the wdtvlive certainly wasn't used at all of them times. thanks
