getting the Node 304 care to replace a prolient server that got damaged. What is the best motherboard I can put in this thing? I guess it takes mini or micro ITX boards and I would like to keep the price to below 200$.

Depends how many SATA ports you want.  I just checked Newegg's motherboard pages and in the microATX form factor there are no Intel-based motherboards with 6 ports, and 14 boards with 5 SATA II ports.  On the AMD side there are heaps of boards with 6 SATA ports.

That Node 304 case looks very nice for a server build.... I been having my eye on it. 

 

I think it will go great with the ASUS C60M1-I
