lost+found permission question (Solved)

Featured Replies

I had an issue and replaced a Drive.  Ran Reiserfsck and did the --rebuild-tree.

Got through all of that and it created the Lost+Found Directory.

I understand what the files are, and why they are there.  I know I can go through them and figure out what they are.

I can go the the GUI and I know right away what most of the files are.  However, when I go to the Lost+Found folder in Explorer it says that I do not have permission.

How am I supposed to get to the files to try to recover as much as possible?

I have been Searching the forum without much luck.  It greatly helped though with the Reiserfsck...

I'm guessing here, since you posted none of the requested support info, but it sounds like you ran the reiserfsck command as root on a late 5.x version and you need to run the new permissions script on that folder.

Yes, I am running 5.0 Beta 14.

I have been looking, and I can't find what the Permission Script is.  Can you tell me what it is, or where I am to find this?

Sorry, I am not very good at this, but I am trying to learn...

Connect via telnet using putty. cd to the directory enclosing Lost+Found. Enter the command "newperms Lost+Found"

There is a New Permissions button under the Utilities tab. This will run newperms on the entire array and will take much longer to complete.

This worked.  Thanks for the help!
