bad missing sense data

I've started a new array today and have noticed the following problems:

 

The disks connected to my areca 1220 controller (in jbod) all display as garbage in the unraid menu:

 

20004d927fffff800 (instead of samsung HD204UJ with serial number).

 

When accessing the data all seems to be present but by doing so the unraid console fills my screen with

"S/G IO bad missing sense data ...."

 

Is the areca 1220 not compatible with unraid 5.0rc8a ?

 

I've shut down the array just to be sure.
