No Permission

Featured Replies

Sorry this has is probably common knowledge but I am at a loss. I upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0 so I can use a 3tb drive, now that I have done that I can't access any disk or user share from any windows PC. I never had any userers or permissions set up before on 4.7 so I guessing something has changed. Seems all the linked help screen in the 5.0 web GUI are blank and not set up yet. So how can I access my files easily? I have no need to password protect everything.

The upgrade instructions still need to be followed. Run the New Permissions utility. Leave the web page open while it runs. It can take several hours. Make sure that there are no credentials saved on the Windows clients.

How do you know when it is done? The screen shows nothing

There should be some lines of text at the bottom of the screen. When it starts it will say:

processing /mnt/disk1
... chmod -R go-rwx,u-x,g+u,ug+X /mnt/disk1

It may take several hours. Leave it running with the web page open overnight.

Its been 2 hours and it doesn't say anything at all.

Do you have a prompt back?  Unless it is setup to run in the background, the script will prevent the display of the prompt until it has finished.  In any case, if you are running through Putty, don't shutdown the Putty session!

I never got anything back, but it must have worked because it seems I can access my files now
