November 25, 201213 yr Hi, i got a couple cards from seanant, in the last lot he had And one of the cards is causing the system to hang after detecting the drives, wondering if it's some how a bad flash or maybe it's just faulty. What seems odd is, well first i have another card as well i got a couple months ago from ebay and flashed myself, so lets call them new cards, card A (good one) card B (one with prob) card C (card i've been using last couple months) Ok, so i pulled card C out and put in cards a and b, and it wasn't booting. With both cards A and B in it does the detecting drives and shows all my 16 drives but hangs.. Pulled card B out and put card A into slot 2, and during boot up it didn't do the detecting drives part, just did the normal bios and straight to unraid menu. Pulled card A out and put card B into slot 1, and did the normal detecting drives and hangs, pulled it out, and put card C back in and same, does the detecting drives but continues onto unraid menu. Put cards A and C into system, it did the detecting drives, and it was quick it showing the drives detected, but i'm sure i only saw the 8 drives not 16, But unraid has booted and all drives are there and working. So yea not 100% sure about card A either it's working but not doing the detecting drives it seems? i asked for them to be pre flashed to IT mode same as card C i did myself. Any suggestions, should i just flash these 2 cards myself again to be sure?
November 25, 201213 yr Just speculation but it sounds like the working card was flashed with IT mode but was flashed such that the bios doesn't show while booting. Some people have done that type of flash on purpose because it allows booting quicker and the card bios being visible at boot isn't required for proper operation. When I flashed mine I made sure they all were completely flashed with nothing missing so the drive detection at boot works. I don't mind the additional boot time. You could try to re-flash the bios if you want but I don't think it is a problem personally. The other non-working card I would try to re-flash since you are having problems with it. The worst that could happen to the card (at least if you flash in on a different computer anyway) is that you completely fry a non-functional card so that it is totally burned out.
November 27, 201213 yr You have old firmware - this 10.00.02.00 under the product revision means that your card was cross-flashed with P10 package (and now we are at P14). You should download and update to the latest one and this may cure your problems.
