December 1, 201213 yr My flash drive is becoming un-accessable after the system runs for a few days. I have been burning in drives and copying data to the non-parity protected array, from the network and from locally mounted NTFS USB connected drives. I am using a brand new 8GB Sandisk Cruzer Fit for my UNRAID boot flash. I looked for refereneces in the syslog for the flash drive and see lots of errors like Dec 1 07:54:21 NatesNAS2 kernel: FAT-fs (sda1): Directory bread(block 79754) failed So pulled the flash and am currently running a full erase (using check flash 1.162) and then going to re-format. I am kind of bumbed because the two preclears I am running right now aren't going to have anywhere to write there log files to. can I mount something else to /boot/preclear_reports so I don't loose the reports? mount did show the /sda1 mounted as /boot, but doing a ls on /boot listed nothing, and unMenu didn't work, etc. Here is a full syslog. [EDIT post was too long, so i trimed the beginning.] Nov 29 07:48:41 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 5 times Nov 29 07:49:42 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 5 times Nov 29 07:51:42 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 07:52:43 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 5 times Nov 29 07:54:44 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 07:56:46 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 07:57:47 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 5 times Nov 29 07:59:48 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 08:00:49 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 5 times Nov 29 08:02:50 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 08:04:51 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 08:06:51 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 08:07:52 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 5 times Nov 29 08:09:53 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 08:11:54 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 10 times Nov 29 08:12:54 NatesNAS2 last message repeated 9 times Nov 29 08:47:03 NatesNAS2 sSMTP[22334]: Sent mail for [email protected] (221 2.0.0 chqpvul5211.smtp.com closing connection) uid=0 username=root outbytes=7184 Nov 29 08:50:06 NatesNAS2 unmenu[3581]: awk: ./unmenu.awk:470: fatal: print to "/inet/tcp/8080/0/0" failed (Connection reset by peer) Nov 29 08:50:06 NatesNAS2 unmenu-status: Exiting unmenu web-server, exit status code = 2 Nov 29 08:50:06 NatesNAS2 unmenu[3581]: unmenu.awk unable to open port. December 1, 201213 yr Author Ok seems to be common problem http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php?title=The_Analysis_of_Drive_Issues#Unexpected_loss_of_removable_drive others boards recommend a fsck.vfat but unraid doesn't give that option. so I did this after erasing and reformatting and copying the files back on and makebootable again. umount /boot -l mount -t vfat /dev/sdx1 /boot killed unmenu process /boot/unmenu/uu and it seems ok. I guess I'll try another USB port when I reboot next -Nate
