December 2, 201213 yr I had a file on my cache drive named _Downloads for a ten parking space to place files and folders so the mover script would not move them till I was ready. This worked for years under 4.7 with no problems. Since the upgrade the folder is now a share and spans across disks 2,3. Disk 3 should be empty. I also have 3 orange balls next to 3 of my shares. Anyone have any ideas?
December 2, 201213 yr Author I manually started the mover script and two of the orange balls went away. The only one left is the _Downloads share that shouldnt be a share anyway.
December 2, 201213 yr Change the setting for Downloads to cache-only and disable SMB, AFP, and NFS exports.
December 2, 201213 yr Author _Downloads wasnt supposed to be a share but a folder on the cache drive. I think I am going to move all the files to a temp drive then try to delete the _Downloads share and reformat the cache drive and start all over.
December 2, 201213 yr every directory directly on the cache drive is recognized as a share (just as any directory directly on a data drive is also recognized as a share). with the share setting cache-only, you can tell the mover, that the share should remain only on the cache drive. only directories starting with a dot (like .Downloads) will not be listed in shares. they will be ignored by the mover, too. directories starting with a dot are hidden on linux systems
December 2, 201213 yr Author ah ok. I should know better than to ask why but do as suggested. Thank you both for replying.
December 3, 201213 yr Author I moved everthing out of that share and I cant get rid of these. .AppleDB/ 2012-12-02 18:39 .AppleDesktop/ 2012-12-01 03:40 Network Trash Folder/ 2012-12-01 03:40 Temporary Items/ 2012-12-01 03:40 ._.DS_Store 4.1 KB 2012-12-03 12:06 .DS_Store 24.58 KB 2012-12-03 12:06 The only two folders that show up are Network trash folder and Temporary items. When I try to delete them through finder I get The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to access some of the items." I want to delete the share and start over.
