Came across this post today. http://www.wegotserved.com/2012/12/03/hp-proliant-microserver-n54l-models/

704941-421 MicroServer AMD Athlon NEO N54L (2200-2M) Dual Core 2GB, 250GB NHP SATA

708245-425 MicroServer AMD Athlon NEO N54L (2200-2M) Dual Core 4GB, Diskless NHP SATA

Had heard about this last year but a release date was never mentioned.  Haven't seen any usd pricing yet, post mentioned it was on canadian sellers list, diskless one for $444.

Should be a good addition, better processor, but more power hungry. I'm hoping it'll drive the N40L prices down as they get cleared out to make way for the new one.

$444 sounds high. HP UK are listing it as £30 more than the N40L at the same config level, but minus the (useless) 250GB drive.

It's a massive CPU bump. The N36L was 1.3GHz, the N40L is 1.5GHz and the N54L is 2.2GHz

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Turion%20II%20Neo%20N54L%20-%20TEN54LSDV23GME.html

Passmark lists it at 1,189

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=AMD+Turion+II+Neo+N54L+Dual-Core&id=477

The N40L is at 970 and the N36L at 805. That would make the CPU 48% faster than the N36L.

$444 was the price I found on http://www.wegotserved.com/2012/12/03/hp-proliant-microserver-n54l-models/

A user there commented the 2.2cpu will draw 25w, the 1.5 was 15w, so a larger power draw. Will be interesting if there any other changes in the box. Additional fan would be nice.

Really just waiting for it to hit the market, so the old N40L gets dropped as they clear them off the shelves as I could use one more. About the only problem I'm having with the n40l is it draws in so much dust. Ended up doing the dryer fabric sheet mod on it, basically sticking a dryer sheet between the front grill and case.

I found raising the box higher up off the floor helped with that.

I don't think there will be much in the way of other changes, as it's the same platform with what looks like the same mobo and RAM etc. So, no USB 3.0. I think 2.2GHz is the fastest core AMD have made for this platform.

No usb 3.0. Doesn't look like any changes. Still mentions memory 8GB max, 8tb max (4x2tb hard drives).

It's possible to use 16GB RAM, but you need to use a specific RAM Module (Patriot IIRC). The 4x2TB limit is just what they've tested. You can use 6x4TB drives or 5TB drives when they are released or whatever size you want.

Just meant they really haven't bothered to change anything in the official specs sheet other than changing the cpu info. I tried 16GB ram 2 sticks of 8GB corsair, worked fine. Just using 2x4gb though, 16 is kind of overkill. At the moment 2 3tb, and 4 2tb drives in the box.
