December 6, 201213 yr Hello, I've tried starting up, and I can't seem to get my computer to post. The parts I'm currently using are: Mobo: Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O LG PSU: CORSAIR TX Series CMPSU-750TX 750W CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 Sandy Bridge RAM: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Unbuffered These are the basic parts. No HDDs are in, nor a kb/mouse connected. Of note...is that the featured link for the PSU indicates that it only has a ATV12V, but it does actually include an EPS12V (as far as I can tell) and in fact does include two of them...(as labeled on the box as well.) Although I've not entirely ruled this out as the issue - but there is an 8length pin to connect for EPS. My understanding is that the mobo doesn't come with onboard speakers? (or I need to connect pin3-4?) I purchased this speaker and connected it to pins1-4. I'm not sure the likelihood if that being the problem...but either rate there are no beeps coming from the system. I have tested it with all ram pulled off, and SATA card pulled off, but the 5x3 cages are still connected to the PSU. I'm pretty sure it's barebones right now with just the PSU, CPU, and HD Cages running, and there are no beeps even to indicate no ram. Does anyone have any suggestions on things I should try? Thanks for any help!
December 7, 201213 yr I think it's most likely the power supply, the one in your post is definitely not an EPS12V power supply Compare the specs on yours to this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021
December 7, 201213 yr Author Thanks for your reply prtrsmgr, do you reckon that http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371022 would work? I intend to try it when I get home -- otherwise I'll have to swing by the store and pickup a new PSU to test with

December 11, 201213 yr Author Hello! I got caught up in work and was just able to try this now. I swapped the PSUs and the speakers as well to make sure that they were working -- and it still does not post. No other update other than that really... so I'm not sure where to move from here. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help!
December 11, 201213 yr Is the memory fully seated? When using two memory modules, the recommended setup per the manual is to install the memory in the blue slots
December 11, 201213 yr Author Is the memory fully seated? When using two memory modules, the recommended setup per the manual is to install the memory in the blue slots I actually pulled all the memory off hoping to hear beeps/POST does a led light up on the board indicating there is power ? Yup, the LEDs light up when connected.
December 11, 201213 yr Do you have a 2nd generation I3? Take a look at this page: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/corei3/sb/CS-031175.htm#10 At the bottom it states: "The Previous Generation Intel® Core™ i3 Processors and the 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i3 Processors do not support ECC memory, but the 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i3 Processors support ECC memory.

Ah, according to the link on newegg it seems I may have the 2nd generation. I will check the box when I get home...assuming its written on there. Would you happen to know if this mean it wouldn't post even though no ram is in there? Thanks! edit: It is the exact one that is linked to by Raj's prototype blog... if that makes any difference.
December 12, 201213 yr Author I checked my box, and unfortunately it doesn't provide any information on what generation it is.
December 13, 201213 yr It looks like you have a 2nd generation I3 http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/334359-28-what-difference-intel-generation-generation-core Edit: It looks like others here have the same combo working. Maybe the MB is bad after all? http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=14306.msg135173#msg135173 http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=13880.msg131413#msg131413

I think you should RMA the board .. Thanks guys, I RMA'ed the board, and will post updates when I can try it again. Best,
February 10, 201313 yr Author Sorry for the long delays! if anyone was interested in this... At either rate, I did manage to RMA it and install the new mobo(just today actually -- been quite busy recently). It does POST now...but I do not receive any video. My post codes goes as 2 quick beeps, then about a 15 second delay, with another 2 quick beeps and a higher pitched beep. Anyone have any idea what post code that is? I can upload audio if needed. Best, Edit: I see it could be my VGA - DVI adapter (http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=24777.0). I will try to test that Edit 2: Got new vga cable -- works fine now!
