Windows 7 No Gui

Featured Replies

I'm not sure why, but all of the sudden when I type http://192.168.1.127 my windows 7 machine comes back with a page not found. My mac, ipad, iphone and everything else in the house can load the gui front end, but not my windows 7 machine, which I use for nearly everything.

Anybody have any ideas what is going on all of the sudden?

Can you ping your unraid box from the windows machine? If no then double check your network settings. If you get a ping response back then I would clear the cache of your browser and check that spyware hasn't got in and create or changed your proxy settings in Internet options.

Also what about typing http://yourtowername

Yeah I can access all my files just like normal from my windows 7 machine. Just the GUI is not accessible. Kinda cracking me up, but a bit frustrating at the same time. I could see it having issues with http://tower,'>http://tower, but I've always used the direct IP address just to avoid potential DNS confusion.

No dice with http://tower either.

I have the issue with Mozilla, IE and Chrome.

Clearly there's something wrong with your Win 7 install.  Possibly malware if it's affecting all 3 browsers, but not the network functionality otherwise.

My best guess is your security software is blocking it. Try temporarily uninstalling all security software (not disabled, uninstalled) and see if the situation changes.

Do you run headphones by any chance? There is an issue where it sets a cookie which breaks browser functionality across the entire GUI.

I did install Anti Malware a while back because I had a suspected something. Hmmm, thanks for the idea I'll give that a looksee. As well I'll check my host file. Maybe that was wacked out as well on my windows machine.

Nope, Actually the only things I'm running on 5.8a is unMenu, diskcache. I was going to install the webserver on my Cache disk, but when this started happening I decided I needed to backup and figure out what is going on first.

Does the unmenu interface come up?

Yes, which is a bit bizzare and I've been trying to figure that one out.

I just rebooted into Safemode with Network support and sure enough I can access my unRAID gui.

I'm thinking this dreaded Macafee is the evil reason. LOL
