rebuilding parity

Featured Replies

I just want to make sure I am thinking this out right.  I am getting ready to put my parity drive back into my array, I had to remove it several days ago because of some controller card issues, so it contains parity info from several days ago (so not current, I have been using the array in the mean time).  So I just stop the array, add the parity drive back in, and restart the array and it will automatically rebuild the parity drive, no pre-clearing or other intervention from me, correct?  It won't rebuild the data from the old parity info (this is where I worry some).

And am I correct in thinking I can still use the array while the rebuild is in progress, or will it be off-line.  I am using UnRaid 5.0 rc5

                                                                        Thanks

you are correct.  You can use the array while it is being re-constructed.

Ok, hooked up the parity drive again, it is not automaticaly rebuilding, says parity invalid, do I hit the sync button to start the rebuild?
