Fastest way to copy files [SOLVED]

Featured Replies

I need to copy a large amount of data from a synology NAS to an unraid server over my gigabit network

What is the fastest, most efficient way to do this?

I have a windows 7 computer available, is the windows 7 copy program efficient, or is there a faster way?

You're better off using TeraCopy than the default explorer copy function.  It also has the ability to compare the CRC of the copied file with the original if you want to ensure the copy was successful.

Awesome, installing it right now.

Thank you.

TeraCopy is up and running.

I am currently copying to a user share, is there any speed difference if I wrote directly to a specific drive?

Not really - the reason it's slower than copying to a normal disk is that it is also generating parity information.
