ssean
Hello, I currently have five disks in my unraid server. I would like to password protect them, so they are not available to everyone on my wifi network. I am not currently using the "share" feature. I just have five disks listed as: disk1, disk2, disk3, disk4, disk5. I read though the tutorial and came acreoss the "User Level Share Security", but I cannot find the setting to enable it. I am using UnRaid Server Pro, along with SimpleFeatures plugin. Thanks in advance! Quote Link to comment
Benni-chan
when you click the disk name on the main unraid webgui page, you can setup the sharing of that disk. there you can select, which users should be able to access the disk. Quote Link to comment
ssean
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried both the Secure and Private security options, but I'm not being prompted for a password when I try to access the disk. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Is a user enabled for access? Quote Link to comment
ssean
Yes, I created a new user and assigned read/write access. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Does the new user share name and password with the Windows login? Quote Link to comment
ssean
The name is different from my Windows logon. I do not use a password for Windows. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Thanks for the quick reply. I tried both the Secure and Private security options, but I'm not being prompted for a password when I try to access the disk. So anyone can access or no one can access? Quote Link to comment
ssean
Anyone can access. Quote Link to comment
dgaschk
Restart the server and verify the user and security settings. Quote Link to comment
ssean
The reboot fixed it. Thanks! Can you tell me the difference between Secure and Private? Quote Link to comment
Benni-chan
just look at the possible settings... with secure, everyone can at least read. only selected users can write. with private, you can select which user can read, which can write and which don't have access at all Quote Link to comment
ssean
This is strange... I created a user/password. Set each disk as private. Hit apply. Next to my user name, I selected Read/Write. Rebooted the server. 4/5 disks display a user/pass prompt, but when I enter my user/pass it doesn't work. 1/5 disks doesn't ask for a user/pass. It just says I don't have permission to access. dgaschk
Run the new permissions utility. Leave the page open and let it run overnight. Quote Link to comment
ssean
The new permissions utility has completed. I still cant login with the user/pass I set. Quote Link to comment
ssean
Does the domain matter? Quote Link to comment
