Missing Disks

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I couldn't find this anywhere else in the forum (maybe I had a man look...) .

I have come across an issue, where one of my disks has failed, and I have replaced the drive, and rebuilt the data form the parity.  That is all well and good until I rebooted the unraid and it still thinks the new drive I have put in is missing.

I am not sure if I should do an initconfig, or if that will screw anything up.  It will still read from the drive it says is missing, and I have copied everything off it to the other drives, so I can actually just remove it altogether and put the drive into a new slot on the array.

I am a bit weary with the unraid as it has been temperamental with me in the past, and I don't want to screw it all up and lose all of my data.

Now that I have copied all of the data to the other disks, I was going to do another parity sync, however it will not allow me in the webgui, as quite rightly so, it sais a disk is missing and the parity sync option is not there.

Do you guys have any suggestions?  I am not sure if I can just try swapping the ports on the motherboard, but that will mean that the drive is still missing (as it is port specific I believe) and it will still shit itself.

I have taken disk four (the one with the issues) out of the array, and started the array so it is going, but the parity is not right.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you want a screenshot or something PM me.

Thanks all
