September 3, 200817 yr Sorry if this has been discussed, but is anyone else out there using offline files with XP (and even Vista)? I use it now to sync my laptop with the work server (SBS2003) so that my network drives are persistent when I'm away from the office. I am considering moving the file service part of my office server to unRaid, but would really like to keep the offline files in XP as they are so convenient (the drive mapped to "K" is always available, whether I'm in the office or out in the middle of nowhere on a jobsite). Are there any known issues? I believe Vista requires Samba 3.0.22 or later, per http://blogs.technet.com/filecab/archive/2007/03/16/using-offline-files-with-samba-emc-servers-nas-devices.aspx. I'm not accomplished at linux, so deep edits to get it to work wouldn't likely be a good idea for me. Everything else runs so damned smoothly with unRaid, it would be nice if this happened to work out of the box as well.
September 6, 200817 yr root@unraid:~# /usr/sbin/smbd --version Version 3.0.28a Never used offline files, but there's the version if you want some level of comfort to try.
July 25, 200916 yr Hi all, I'm using windows 7 with offline files enabled on some shares that reside on my unraid server (version: 4.4.2). Sometimes the syncronization process reports conflict (files changed on my laptop and on the server) on files that are exactly equal (same size, same date). When I select an option to solve the conflict (ex: keep the laptop file), the problem apears again on the next syncronization. I think the problem is unraid related, because I have severall shares mapped to windows servers where this problem does not accour. Maybe the problem is related to this: http://blogs.technet.com/filecab/archive/2007/03/16/using-offline-files-with-samba-emc-servers-nas-devices.aspx I want to change the smb.conf to add the parameters described on that page. How can I change the smb.conf before the samba process starts? Tanks
August 2, 200916 yr Here are a couple of threads that attempt to make changes to the Samba config, and restart it. There are several ideas toward the ends of each. * http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1975 * http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=2215 * You might search the forums for smbcontrol to find more related info
