December 24, 201213 yr Deprecated! Wait for new "newznab_extras" plugin to be posted. First, credits: The start of this plugin was taken from limetech's slimserver plugin...but the more advanced bits were thanks to Influencer's plugins. Items Installed: sphinxsearch screen htop (dependencies on above) /etc/rc.d/rc.sphinxsearch Intent: This plugin is designed to be used with the Newznab plugin, while searchd is a very powerful tool, and you CAN install this plugin and use it for other tasks...right now it is bilt to run off of the default Newznab settings. If you don't have the NZB backlog imported in Newznab, this plugin will likely not improve performance greatly. But I have noted a speedup in the processing and in searching with over 200k nzbs in my DB. So if you haven't imported, feel free to help out and give it a go...but don't expect a major impact on your site or updates. Warnings: I've been running this for a few days, and rebooted a few times...there are areas it could be improved, but I need advice from people who know plugins better than myself before I can move further. Be SURE that you enable Sphinx in Newznab BEFORE enabling this plugin. I haven't tested it without doing so as that is the method required by Newznab. Perhaps later I'll add on a bit to enable/disable Sphinx in Newznab...but for now. Note: This installs postgrezsql, it is a dependency on the current version package I was able to use. Again, this might change as I get further into things...but it only costs a little memory. Please consider this an ALPHA plugin. cd /boot/config/plugins wget -N http://mux.net/~tybio/plugins/sphinxsearch.plg installplg sphinxsearch.plg Changelog: 0.2: Utility Additions Added the following utilities and their dependencies to the plugin: * screen * htop 0.1: Alpha release
December 24, 201213 yr Author Ok, looks like the first issue is cropping up. I did a fresh build and installed all the plugins, but now mysqld is existing before sphinxsearch...which causes it to fail "stop". Anyone have advice on how to pick the order of plugins being shutdown? I could just turn it into a kill, but I'm worried what that will do to the searchd indexes.
