I am a bit paranoid about installing things on my server so I don'y have any scripts or addins and such. I haven't been able to find the answers here so I'm asking.... Appreciate the help.

 

2 Questions. Can the Preclear script work on more than one drive at a time? I have 4 new drives to be added?

 

Can I use an old PC with unraid installed on it to preclear the drives and then MOVE them to my unraid server and have it recognize that they have been cleared already?

I know some people have had problems preclearing more than 2 drives with 2GB or less ram installed (the drives in question were 3TB drives if I recall).

I typically run 6 pre-clears in 2G RAM with minimal add-ons. The pre-clears use default settings.

Wish I could say the same.  Had unMenu installed and only that on my preclear station.  Only had two slots available to preclear drives and 3 existing Windows drives on the box.  It was an AMD AthlonXP CPU with 2GB of memory.  2 drives cleared fine when they were 2TB drives but I was unable to clear more than 1 3TB drive using default preclear parameters.  I changed to use the -b -w -r commands that Joe L recommended in another thread and then had no problems clearing 2 3TB drives at a time.  Confident that if I had the drive slots available I could have cleared more using those parameters.
