December 27, 201213 yr Hi all. Have a great unraid setup running Sab and air video Currently traveling for holidays. First couple of days I could access things remotely but now I can't- I think my ISP has changed my IP address as this happens once in a while I can't access air video or Sab, they both give error messages saying Possibly wrong ip or port I am getting daily unraid ok messages so I'm sure the system is running Any advice? I'm 99% sure the ISP changed the external IP address and if so I'd like to try determine the new address
December 27, 201213 yr I can think of multiple ways to deal with it prior to leaving, but once gone your options are limited. The only things that come to mind are... 1. Examine the full headers of the daily status email message to see if you can find the originating IP there. 2. Do you have any other PC's on your internal network that have centrally managed remote login software already installed, like logmein or gotomypc, and are currently turned on? 3. Assuming your ISP is fairly small, you could take your old ip and scan the associated range of addresses with a port scanner like this. (This may be seen as a hacking attempt by your ISP, so don't do this lightly, you may end up getting your current remote IP blocked by your ISP, possibly permanently) Maybe someone else has a better idea?
December 27, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the quick reply! The daily email doesn't seem to have anything helpful I have other pcs on the network but nothing which is on. I only leave the server on. As for your last suggestion I'd have to try it on an iPhone, that's the only access I have Wonder if I could just call my ISP? Would they have a record of this? Lastly I'd like to set things up to prevent this or somehow get notified of hanged- any suggestions for that?
December 27, 201213 yr Thanks for the quick reply! The daily email doesn't seem to have anything helpfulThat's odd. The second line in the email generated by the unmenu status email package includes this line for me. Received: from *******@gmail.com (*-*-*-*.*.*.*.com. [*.*.*.*]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id ******************************* (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=OTHER); Thu, 27 Dec 2012 03:47:03 -0800 (PST) The actual text included all my info instead of asterisks. Did you view the actual message, or just the client rendered message body?
December 27, 201213 yr Author Hmmm sorry I just read the message body on my iPhone Not sure how to view the actual header info on my Phone. Sorry to be such a pain but any advice?

December 27, 201213 yr Author Hmmm ok update. Using my bro in laws net book I was able to see that IP address Appears unchanged! Weird I'm getting the unraid ok messages but unable to access anything. I wonder if the server restarted due to power or something and the array is not on?

I wonder if the server restarted due to power or something and the array is not on? Are you seeing the external IP address? or the network's internal address? The internal address (typically 192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.xxx.xxx.xx ) is useless from anywhere except the local LAN. Most people who do not have a fixed IP address use a dynamic IP tracking service, but the time to set that up is before you leave home. The status messages would tell you if the array was off-line, so I expect it is just the IP address that has changed. Joe L.
December 27, 201213 yr Author Thanks but I'm quite sure the unraid ok email is showing it was sent from my real external address starting with 142.xxx.xxx.xx. Not the 192 or 10. The external address is the one my Sab and air video app are pointing to So I no longer think the address has changed. I think my unraid must have locked or restarted
