Is there a surface scan utility available for unRAID via the command line? I have a few older disks lying around that I would like to test before reintegrating into the server. I have access to several such utilities for my Mac, but no enclosures/sleds to mount them. Is there something I can run to verify the disks from my unRAID box?

The smartctl long test should provide a full surface scan.

I believe there to be a Slackware package for Smartmon Tools you could install (installpkg the txz or tzx whatever it's extension is)

A lot of people here use the preclear script for this.  There is also a bad block utility.
